Warfighters supporting warfighters – three simple but powerful words that punctuate the closing line of the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center’s new vision statement and reflect its important role supporting commanders at the installation and major command levels.

Maj. Gen. Theresa Carter, AFIMSC commander, met with her new leadership team Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 to begin the unit’s strategic planning process, including developing mission and vision statements for the new center.

The mission of the AFIMSC is to “deliver globally integrated combat support and shape the foundation of America’s Air, Space, and Cyberspace power.”

The unit’s vision is “one team revolutionizing combat support … agile, innovative, and networked … warfighters supporting warfighters!”

“Our mission and vision capture our focus as we begin operations this fall,” Carter said. “We’re entering a new era in the history of our Air Force. The AFIMSC mission and vision align with those of Air Force Materiel Command, our higher headquarters, and the Air Force in terms of the strategic emphasis on agility.”

Effective Oct. 1, AFIMSC will execute the installation and mission support capabilities previously conducted by the major commands, two direct reporting units and several field operating agencies. Those capabilities include security forces, civil engineering, base communications, logistics readiness, ministry programs, services, operational acquisition and financial management.

“In developing our mission and vision, we focused on the attributes that make us unique – a global mission, designed to integrate and change the way the Air Force delivers service-wide installation and mission support capabilities,” the commander said. “We have a tremendous opportunity to help the Air Force realize the future state articulated in the Call to the Future vision document by developing strategic agility and building a capacity to quickly adapt and respond to needs at our installations around the world.”
