JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – It’s Mission Monday. Meet Christian Degro Rosado, Air Force Services Center Acquisition Systems Branch chief.
He and his team develop and sustain the Internet Based Purchasing System, a nonappropriated fund procurement and contract management system.
We asked Degro Rosado, who was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to tell us more about himself and the work he does for the Department of the Air Force.
What do you love about your job?
The people that I get to work with every day. We have a close-knit team, and I get to work closely with two directorates that have some amazing people. They are always there to share work experiences, life experiences and it makes work fun. When work becomes fun, you no longer look at it as just a job, it motivates you to learn and be at your best to help the team succeed.
When it comes to your job, what keeps you motivated?
I enjoy learning new things and working with people. As IT continues to advance, so should we as IT professionals and as humans. The work that we are doing in AFSVC with our digital transformation efforts is a great way to touch on new technology and expand our skill sets.
Why are you and your team important to the Air Force and Space Force enterprise and your customers?
Our team is important because we provide full application support to our NAF Procurement Office and base-level NAF activities across the Department of the Air Force, including interface requirements with the Air Force Services Financial Management System.
Describe a project or event you and your team worked on recently that gave you a great sense of accomplishment:
Recently we were able to migrate our Internet Based Purchasing System classroom site to new virtual machines with updated software that includes Operating System and Microsoft SQL Server versions. The site provides an interactive classroom for our IBPS Helpdesk team to host new NAF contract specialists and provide hands on training in IBPS.
How does what you do support AFIMSC’s strategic priorities?
By providing a technological platform for NAF contracting activities that support Airmen, Guardians and their families by ensuring the best possible services are made available to them.
