JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and we’re celebrating the event by recognizing several of our teammates across the AFIMSC enterprise.

Meet Tech. Sgt. Genevieve Margaret Kuulei Villela, a financial analyst in the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.

With more than 10 years of service, Villela provides support and oversight to 77 installations in financial matters, including process improvements and automations in military pay, travel pay, civilian pay, banking, disbursing and quality assurance programs.

Here’s more from Villela:

What do you enjoy most about being an Airman?
I love being an Airman because it gives me a greater purpose in life to know I am serving my country.

If you could share one thing about your Asian American, Pacific Islander heritage, what would it be?
We have the best food/cuisine in the world, hands down!

Why is it important to celebrate the history and heritage of every member of the AFIMSC team?
Celebrating and sharing our culture helps us become a more inclusive force and helps bring our teammates together.

What motivates and inspires you the most?
Knowing that I am helping people and working towards making some of the Air Force processes better motivates me!
