  • Environmental Assessment gives Tyndall green light to rebuild into ‘Installation of the Future’

    After receiving a devastating hit from Category 5 Hurricane Michael a year and a half ago, Tyndall Air Force Base is now set to purge the last of its significantly damaged facilities and start rebuilding from the ground up. To reach this vital starting point, the 325th Fighter Wing, Tyndall Program Management Office and Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center collaborated to complete the Tyndall AFB Programmatic Environmental Assessment.

    Air Force Installation Contracting Center’s contracting experts -- teaming with colleagues at all levels -- showed agility and innovation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic when they quickly got cloth protective masks in the hands of Airmen and their families. It's a great example of how Airmen are keeping the Air Force lethal and mission ready. Following the release of a Secretary of Defense April 5 memo on the use of cloth face coverings on Defense Department property, Air Force contracting offices went to work and had a blanket purchase agreement in place April 9.

    The Air Force recently awarded an eight-year, $6.4 billion contingency support contract to eight firms. The Air Force Contract Augmentation Program, or AFCAP, is a rapid response contingency contract tool managed and serviced through the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center enterprise. This is the fifth consecutive contingency contract for AFCAP.
