The 111th Attack Wing hosted more than 50 members of the Willow Grove Air Base Restoration Advisory Board here for their quarterly RAB meeting, a mission briefing on the Wing and its subordinate units, and a tour of the base to review progress in its environmental restoration efforts. RABs like this one are designed to provide a forum for effective two-way communication between the community and the Air Force about environmental work that is being done current and former bases. The lockout/tagout and accompanying disposal of the AFFF tanks is in accordance with a 2020 National Defense Authorization Act provision requiring DoD to phase out AFFF at all military installations by Oct. 1, 2024. Edwards EUL Solar Array Project

Nearly five years of collaboration between the Air Force, civic stakeholders and private industry came to fruition Feb. 2 with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for a 2,600-acre solar enhanced use lease project at Edwards Air Force Base, California. The Edwards array is the fifth and largest solar EUL project in the Air Force. The others at Luke AFB, Arizona; Eglin AFB, Florida; and two at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, complete the existing portfolio. Edwards EUL Solar Array Project

The Air Force Civil Engineer Center, a primary subordinate unit of the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, worked with Edwards Air Force to solicit lease proposals for an underutilized parcel of land on the northwest corner of the base. Terra-Gen LLC, a renewable energy company, signed a 35-year lease agreement in November 2018 to construct a solar array at Edwards.
