A U.S. Navy C-2A Greyhound tests the Aircraft Arresting System on the flight line Oct. 9, 2016, at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. The AAS is used in the event that an emergency stop or landing is needed to prevent potential harm to both pilot and aircraft. The system consists of a cable that runs along the width of the runway, and can be raised and lowered by the barrier arresting kit known as the BAK-14.
