The Installation and Mission Support Weapons and Tactics Conference is AFIMSC’s premier innovation platform. It drives readiness by advancing Agile Combat Support capabilities aligned with the National Defense Strategy, the AF Posture Statement 2020, and the demands of dynamic force Employment and Global Mobility operations.
Modeled after the Combat Air Forces WEPTAC, AFIMSC hosted the first I-WEPTAC in 2017. Each year, the conference convenes Mission Area Working Groups, or MAWGs, composed of 20–40 cross-functional subject matter experts from across the Air Force, Joint, and Combined communities. These teams develop actionable recommendations for senior leaders.
Key Features of I-WEPTAC:
- Enables multi-discipline, cross-functional senior leader engagement
- Fosters deliberate partnerships with operational units to align ACS efforts
- Serves as a team-building platform to strengthen problem-solving skills among emerging Air Force leaders
I-WEPTAC tackles foundational installation and mission support challenges, identifying deficiencies, shortfalls, and developmental gaps that hinder the Air and Space Forces’ ability to operate effectively. The conference is charged with developing executable courses of action and delivering strategic insights to senior leaders. These efforts enhance the agility and lethality of combat support operations worldwide.
MAWGs harness the expertise of Airmen on cross-functional teams to study specific mission topics and propose innovative solutions. Through forward-thinking and collaborative problem-solving, AFIMSC and I-WEPTAC ensure the Air and Space Forces remain ready to fly, fight, and win—anytime, anywhere.
