JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- It pays to be an Air Force Club member.
From Nov. 1-23, the Air Force Services Activity’s Air Force Club Membership Giveaway program will honor its members with weekly prizes to include computers, televisions and the grand prize -- a 2017 Jeep Wrangler.
The prizes are intended to show appreciation to Air Force Club members; highlight the benefits of club membership; and encourage local, complementary club offerings, said Col. Mike Lamb, AFSVA operations director.
Three Apple MacBooks and two e-gift cards valued at $250 each will be given away Nov. 9; two TVs and two gift cards will be given away Nov. 16; and the Jeep will be given away Nov. 23.
“There are many reasons to be a club member, and prizes like this are just one of them,” Lamb said. “We’re thankful for our club members every day, and this is a great opportunity to give back.”
A residual benefit of club membership is investing in future Airmen, said Jon Boyd, AFSVA club operations branch chief.
“For every dollar spent in Air Force Clubs, a percentage goes back into the Morale, Welfare and Recreation fund, and allows installations to purchase new equipment and provide programming for Airmen,” Boyd said.
“Those dollars stay on the installation and are used to improve the quality of life for everyone. It’s a place where all Airmen and their families come together past, present and future contributing in great part to a sense of community and heritage,” he added.
Members can receive discounts on meals and catering, and other incentives unique to each location, Boyd said.
While this isn’t a membership drive, Lamb said, participants must be a club member in good standing to register and win. Participants who enter between Nov. 1-22 will automatically be entered in the grand prize drawing.
“Members can enter every day,” Boyd said, “and we want our members to enter often.”
