JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – This week we’re highlighting Jessica Parker, regional restaurant manager with Air Force Services Center’s, Name Brand Food Program.
Parker, a New York native, holds the power of food close to her heart and knows she’s in the morale business. Her team oversees operations of name brand restaurants on Air Force installations, where familiarity creates a sense of home.
She took some time to share the importance and impact of her team’s mission.
Why did you join civil service?
I joined civil service because I wanted to continue serving the military community after years as a military spouse. It felt like a natural extension of the life I’d already been living, just with a new title.
Why do you serve and what keeps you serving?
As a former military spouse, I’ve seen how Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs strengthen service members and their families. I love being part of a mission that builds connection, resilience, and joy!

When it comes to your job, what keeps you motivated?
I love the challenge of bringing real change to how we approach food and beverage as a business.
Why are you and your team important to the Department of the Air Force?
We’re the team that brings familiar, comforting food options to bases. Beyond that, we’re working to transform how the Air Force approaches food and beverage, shifting toward a more modern, customer-focused experience that better meets the needs of today’s Airmen and Guardians.
Describe a project or event you and your team worked on recently that gave you a great sense of accomplishment:
We’ve been working on launching new restaurant locations and seeing the construction come together has been exciting. It’s rewarding to know that soon, Airmen and their families will have more dining choices that feel like home.
How does what you do support AFIMSC’s strategic priorities?
We strengthen Airmen, Guardians, and families by improving their quality of life through food options they enjoy and trust. Our work also supports organizational excellence by streamlining operations and enhancing customer satisfaction.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Hiking is my favorite way to recharge. I love spending time with my family, especially outdoors!
