JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas - Marisol Quintana thrives on ensuring her team operates smoothly.
As the administrative assistant for the Air Force Services Center Installation Support Directorate, she manages calendars, prepares correspondence and coordinates travel for senior leadership. Her impact, however, extends far beyond these daily tasks.
“Small steps make a big impact,” she said, a mantra that guides her work.
For example, Marisol leads the update of the Force Support Squadron Global Leadership Directory, a massive undertaking involving 10,000 records across 86 installations. This initiative strengthens AFSVC’s communication strategy, connecting thousands of services professionals with vital program updates. She also maintains organizational records and manages supplies, ensuring alignment with higher headquarters directives.
“The best thing about my job is the opportunity to play a key role within AFSVC,” she said, appreciating the diverse nature of her work and its direct impact on mission success.
Marisol also developed the Air Force Services Center's Force Support Squadron Commander's Handbook. It provides comprehensive guidance for incoming and current FSS commanders, empowering them to lead their units more effectively, drive mission success and strengthen operational excellence across the services enterprise.
Her drive to support Airmen and Guardians at all levels stems from a deep personal understanding of military life.
“Growing up in an Army family, I gained a firsthand understanding of the dedication and sacrifices of our military,” she said.
This personal connection fuels her commitment to supporting Airmen and Guardians. In fact, she said one of her proudest moments was witnessing the success of an Airman she mentored. Her career journey, from base-level administrative support to her current role at AFSVC, has also been deeply rewarding for her and provided a broader perspective on the essential role services plays in Air Force mission success.
“My career growth has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my life,” she said.
