JOINT BASE SAN ANOTNIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- Meet Tech. Sgt. Nakeysha Godwin, spouse of Master Sgt. James Godwin, with the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center's Expeditionary Support and Innovation Directorate in San Antonio. Nakeysha is assigned to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland's 59th Medical Logistics and Readiness Squadron.

The Godwin's have  been married for six years and have a three-year-old daughter. Nakeysha, who is currently deployed, is looking forward to retiring this fall after 20 years of service and planning for her future as an Air Force retiree and military spouse.

We asked her to tell us a little more about herself.

What’s your first memory as the spouse of an Airman?
Our time together in Hawaii and learning about all of his great qualities as a leader for our family.

What’s your best experience as the spouse of an Airman?
There are several, but I love the humor that is brought into my life on a daily basis.

What’s a challenge you and your spouse overcame as a team?
Back-to-back deployments after having our daughter, Jaiyana.

What is your best advice for other AFIMSC spouses?
Remain supportive and keep communication open at all times.

Do you have a mantra that you live by and how does it help?
“Family First” because it helps keep our priorities in order.

What’s something you cherish from your time as a spouse and why?
My most cherished memory was his proposal. He stepped outside of his comfort zone to show me he wasn’t afraid of anything.
