JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – Meet #IMSCFamily Reginald McBride, spouse of Yolanda McBride at the Air Force Services Center headquarters in San Antonio.

In addition to being a retired Air Force master sergeant, Reginald is a chaplain for the Air Force.

We asked him to tell us a little more about his life as a spouse.

What’s your first memory as the spouse of an Airman?
Going with my wife to get her very first common access ID card.

What’s your best experience as the spouse of an Airman?
My wife worked for the private sector for over 25 years.  Seeing her join the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center and how happy she was to join Air Force Services is the best experience for me.

What’s a challenge you and your spouse overcame as a team?
The first year of our marriage we lived in separate states but we were able to keep our relationship strong with multiple daily calls, letters and frequent flying between California and Texas.  Absence makes the heart grow stronger.

What is your best advice for other AFIMSC spouses?
Always remember to go on a date with your spouse. My wife and I go on a date every Friday or Saturday.  This is very important to keep the spark in your relationship and gives you time to create wonderful memories together.

Do you have a mantra that you live by and how does it help?
God First, Family Second, Self-Care, Integrity, Service before self and Excellence in all that you do (The Air Force way).

What’s something you cherish from your time as a spouse and why?
One of the best memories was seeing my wife smiling when I proposed and she said yes.  I remember like it was yesterday.
