#IAMIMSC: Rebecca Quint

Duty title and unit: Procurement Analyst, Air Force Installation Contracting Center, Acquisition Center of Excellence, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas

Primary duty responsibilities: Helping contracting teams craft acquisition approaches to meet the needs of their Air Force customers, assisting with source selection and other acquisition-related training, advising source selection teams, and reviewing source selection or other acquisition documentation as requested.

What’s the best part of your job?
Working with all the wonderful acquisition professionals to meet the needs of our Air Force warfighters!

What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
I recently supported development of three training modules for our operational contracting community: Commercial Solutions Opening Pilot Program training; Red Flag source selection training; and a solicitation development training workshop.

The CSO pilot program allows DoD contracting professionals to leverage a special solicitation method that allows rapid access to innovative commercial solutions. AFICC’s new CSO training provides helpful tips, videos, and process mapping for use of this pilot approach. The solicitation workshop will assist source selection teams in writing better solicitations, including instructions to vendors and evaluation criteria. Further supporting source selection, Red Flag training will help teams write their evaluations in a way that’s consistent with their published solicitation. Both will support better source selections and contribute to reduced protests.

Any claims to fame?
Not really. I mostly like to brag on my brother, who is an HH-60 pilot and was featured in National Geographic’s Inside Combat Rescue in 2013. He’s awesome!

Do you follow any mantra?
“There are more things in heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” The quote is a paraphrase of statement made by Hamlet to Horatio in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Which AFIMSC value do you identify with the most and why?
I identify most with Responsiveness. This is really the heart of what we are about in the Acquisition Center of Excellence. Whatever we can do to support the team, support the mission and collaborate to get better results, that’s our goal.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I really enjoy supporting our operational community. This is where the rubber meets the road. It’s meeting the everyday needs of those directly supporting our Air Force mission that make my job worthwhile.
