#IAMIMSC: Master Sgt. Bradley Taylor
Duty title and unit: Joint EOD Equipment Management Section Chief, Air Force Civil Engineer Center Readiness Directorate; Indian Head, Maryland
Primary duty responsibilities: My primary duty is to represent the Air Force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal equipment review board and act as a liaison to the Joint EOD community’s Military Technical Acceptance Board. We work in close proximity with our sister service’s representatives out of the Naval Special Warfare Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technical Division in Maryland.
What’s the best part of your job?
Being surrounded by individuals in the Air Force and our sister services who are passionate about their jobs and take their responsibilities to joint collaboration very seriously. It motivates me to continue looking for new and innovative ways to come together across all branches.
What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
Before transferring into my current role, I was on the publication review committee inside of the same department. We were able to validate and verify a procedure on a munition item I personally submitted from the field over 6 years ago. Seeing the render-safe product finally get fielded was extremely satisfying. Seeing a submittal cradle-to-grave is not very common and I feel very fortunate to have been a part of the process.
Any claims to fame?
I have been a groomsman to 26 weddings (commonly hosting 2-400 people) in the last 4 years. With that being said, recently my wife and I eloped. We surprised our family with a small intimate 11-person ceremony in the foothills of Ireland. We absolutely love our big families and extensive friend groups, but this one needed to be for us and 400+ people can be quite an exhausting situation.
Do you follow any mantra?
Never stop learning. Whether it’s from your superiors, spouse, friends, peers or subordinates, you should always strive to learn new things and ideas to help shape a better way forward.
Which AFIMSC value do you identify with the most and why?
I most identify with Trust & Transparency. I think trust and transparency within an organization leads to the rest of the values falling into place.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I would like to thank my supervision for submitting me, and my family for their support. It was sobering to win AFIMSC NCO of the Quarter my last quarter as an NCO, drawing to a close one tier as I prepared to take on new and exciting challenges in the Senior NCO levels. Thank you.
