#IAMIMSC: Kevin Caber

Duty title and unit: Air Force Installation & Mission Support Center Detachment 9 Financial Manager, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois

Primary duty responsibilities: I manage more than $604 million of AFIMSC funding for all Air Mobility Command installations and Transportation Working Capital Fund locations, covering 39 operating budget accounts across AMC, Pacific Air Forces and U.S. Air Forces in Europe.

What’s the best part of your job?
Doing my part to ensure mission success for AFIMSC and AMC.

What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
I worked closely with the AFIMSC resource management staff, our detachment staff and our installations to fund AMC un-funded requests during FY19 closeout. With teamwork, we were extremely successful.

Any claims to fame?
Throughout my career, I’ve earned many annual and quarterly awards, including Airman of the year, resource advisor of the year, NCO of the year and senior NCO of the year while on active-duty. As a civilian, I was the 2009 AMC Civilian of the Year, Category II, and an AFIMSC Category II Civilian of the Quarter in 2019.

Do you follow any mantra?
I follow my old basic military training motto I learned at 19 years old: “lead, follow or get out of the way.” Also, “Go Eagles” as I’m from central Pennsylvania.

Anything else you’d like to add?
We have an outstanding detachment with awesome leadership and teamwork. We also have a great partnership with AMC headquarters. Every day I strive to ensure I am meeting AFIMSC Det. 9’s priorities that include ensuring our AMC bases and units have the resources, guidance and advocacy they need to be successful. This is our top priority!

I must also add that the teamwork and outstanding support we receive from the AFIMSC RM staff is outstanding! I am truly blessed to work with the RM staff every day; they truly help make the overall AMC mission a success.
