WRIGHT PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Air Force Installation Contracting Agency’s innovative methodology called enterprise sourcing has gained attention recently with the release of an excellent five minute video with an associated blog, in the Defense Acquisition University library.
AFICA is a primary subordinate unit assigned to the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center.
Enterprise sourcing is the application of industry analytic practices, acquisition units. Its purpose is to reduce costs and improve mission capability, with the overarching objective of maximizing the effectiveness of every taxpayer dollar spent on defense.
In the vignette, AFICA Commander Brig. Gen. Alice Trevino describes the importance and impact of enterprise sourcing to the Air Force and Department of Defense. Additionally, the general introduces a successful example of strategic sourcing from the 771st Enterprise Sourcing Squadron at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
The Fire Emergency Services Personal Protective Equipment program was established to provide firefighting ensembles and related maintenance services to approximately 10,500 firefighters throughout the Air Force. This program, developed with Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Fire Emergency Services Division, is currently delivering standardized equipment, enhanced firefighter safety, streamlined acquisition processes and significant cost savings to the Air Force fire emergency services community.
