Ecological monitoring at former Castle AFB, CA
The Air Force Civil Engineer Center, responsible for the environmental restoration at the now-closed Castle Air Force Base, will successfully conclude ecological monitoring moving one step closer to cleanup. Ecological monitoring in 2008 and 2016 showed no evidence that soil contamination at the former Castle impacted ecological sites such as wetlands and vernal pools.
