MICHAEL N. LOBO

Mr. Michael N. Lobo is the Director of Detachment 1, Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC), headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, with operating locations at the Pentagon and Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. He is responsible for an operating budget of nearly $1 billion to support U.S. Space Force (USSF) installations. He leads a staff of 17 military and civilian subject matter experts who manage enterprise-wide assets and provide critical installation and mission support to the 37,500 Guardians and Airmen assigned to locations across the globe in support of the USSF’s 24/7 employed-in-place mission.

Mr. Lobo entered Federal Civilian Service through the PALACE Acquire program, which recruits recent college graduates in science and engineering career fields. Over his career, he has served in various installation and higher headquarters roles in civil engineering project programming, project execution, and program management. He managed the privatization contract for district heat for the Kaiserslautern Military Community, valued at over $20 million per year. He directed facilities engineering and operations activities at multiple geographically separated units (GSUs) worldwide, supporting USSF missions such as missile warning, space surveillance, space launch, and satellite communications, as well as North Atlantic Treaty Organization missions including collective defense, Partnership for Peace, and nuclear deterrence. He developed and executed a nearly $500 million annual facility sustainment, restoration, and modernization program for USSF. Prior to his current position, he served as Chief of the Program Development Division for AFIMSC Detachment 1, Peterson SFB, Colorado.

Before entering Federal civilian service, Mr. Lobo worked for an architect-engineer firm on an energy savings performance contract to optimize facility mechanical systems for the state of New York.
