Colonel Steven Lamb is the Deputy Commander, Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The center serves as an intermediate-level headquarters responsible for providing installation and mission support capabilities to 83 Air Force and Space Force installations, nine major commands and two direct reporting units with an annual budget of approximately $10 billion. One of six centers assigned to AFMC, the unit's cross-functional team integrates security forces, civil engineering, base communications, logistics readiness, installation ministry programs, public affairs, services, operational acquisition, and financial management across 10 detachments and four primary subordinate units. Those units are the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Air Force Installation Contracting Center, Air Force Security Forces Center and Air Force Services Center.
Colonel Lamb entered the Air Force in February 1992 as an enlisted Security Police Journeyman and was trained in special weapons and tactics, desert warfare, and urban warfare. His deployment experiences include Installation Deployment / Reception Officer - Diego Garcia; Deputy Director of Logistics (J4) for Combined Special Operations Air Component – Iraq; Deputy Director of Logistics (CJ4) and an Advanced Air Advisor for Afghanistan Regional Security Integration Command – South; Chief of Plans (J4) for United States Forces – Afghanistan; and Installation Commander for Cooperative Security Location - Manda Bay, Republic of Kenya.
Prior to this assignment, Colonel Lamb was the commander of the 52nd Mission Support Group at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
