  • Airmen cultivate leadership qualities through Ranger Assessment Course

Why do we want Airmen to work toward being Ranger qualified? It’s easy, says Lt. Col. Walter Sorensen, Air Force Security Forces Center chief of training, because the Air Force needs to be able to put Airmen in isolated environments -- with minimal to no guidance -- knowing they’ll find a way to get the job done instead of seeing it as an impossible task … that they’ll never give up. This week’s Ranger Assessment Course in Hawaii was hosted by AFSFC and included both Air Force Ranger qualified Defenders and Army Rangers working together to make sure requirements and standards were met. Sorensen oversees the quality and execution of SF training, including the Ranger course.
