#IAMIMSC: Maj. Adrianna Perez

Duty title and unit: I am the Resource Management Analysis and Support Branch Chief with the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center Resources Directorate, JBSA-Lackland, Texas.

Primary duty responsibilities: My daily work consists of a mix of managing my team, collaborating with enterprise managers and building products to effectively communicate our work to senior leadership. I regularly give briefings to leadership regarding major budget updates, such as the fiscal year execution plan. Honestly, every day brings something brand new which can be stressful but also keeps me on my toes!

What’s the best part of your job?
The breadth of programs around the entire Air Force that I provide decision support on. My team and I have influence on every installation and our goal is to best support them with the resources we have.

Why are you and your job important to the Air Force and AFMC?
We develop funding strategies for AFIMSC and advocate for our requirements to the Secretary of the Air Force. These processes inform Congress and funding of the defense budget. We fund the little things people don't typically think about like keeping the lights on or water treatment, but we also have huge facilities sustainment, restoration and modernization projects like maintaining our runways. Whether big or small, my team and I have a hand in making it happen.

What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
My biggest project was developing and recommending a model for determining the appropriate base operations support funding for transfer to U.S. Space Force. I was able to analyze a huge amount of data as the lead of an interdisciplinary team and make recommendations to Air Force, Air Force Materiel Command and AFIMSC senior leaders on our recommended course of action. Being empowered to not just do the work, but talk about it and make recommendations, gave me a great sense of accomplishment about how I was involved with the stand-up of a new service.

Any claims to fame?
During my senior year of high school, the author Gina M. Perez wrote about my Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps unit and used our life experiences as the basis for her book "Citizen, Student, Soldier: Latina/o Youth, JROTC, and the American Dream."

Do you follow any mantra?
Full throttle; max performance.

Which AFIMSC value do you identify with the most and why?
Trust and Transparency. In resource management, we own the funding process that touches every installation and mission support program across the Air Force. It is crucial that we have trust and transparency with the process to ensure we operate as a team, foster a cost conscious culture and fund our most crucial requirements.
