Smallarms
Weapons qualification course students fire their Beretta M9 pistols during the range portion of their training July 6, 2015, at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Medina Annex. During this portion, students practice both kneeling and standing firing positions and record the accuracy of their hits with combat arms instructors to verify their weapon competency. The weapons qualification course is part of the Combat Arms Training and Maintenance program that introduces basic firearm safety and use practices for Airmen in Air Force Basic Military Training and refreshes that training for JBSA members deploying or undergoing a permanent change of station.
