“It’s my hope that by taking care of the Airmen of today, they will pay it forward and take care of the Airmen of tomorrow,” she said.

As superintendent of Protection Services at AFIMSC Detachment 4 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Janna is responsible for organizing, training and equipping 119 U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa emergency managers.

She is also responsible for the readiness of 30 specialized chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear response equipment packages. As the organization’s senior enlisted leader, she guides 82 people in Germany and the United Kingdom while supporting eight wings and 83 geographically separated units across three continents.

“The best part of my job is building partnerships with our NATO allies in Europe and creating opportunities for our Airmen to learn and operate alongside their counterparts,” she said.

Janna said her most satisfying achievements are strengthening NATO partnerships. In 2022, she was a member of the first American team from a Department of Defense component to participate in the Danish-led exercise Brave Bedouin. The team received Superior Performer accolades out of 44 participating units and returned in 2023 to earn Best White Cell recognition.

She also led a team of 22 multinational subject matter experts in developing and executing the seven-day NATO exercise, TOXIC TRIP. “It was the first time in 18 years Air Force emergency managers participated and the first time ever Air Force explosive ordnance disposal technicians attended.

“I have been blessed with amazing mentors and incredible opportunities throughout my career and I feel it’s my responsibility to pay it forward to the Airmen and Guardians I serve now,” she said. “My goal is to ready them for the future fight while giving them amazing opportunities to excel.”
