JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- It’s Misson Monday! Meet Jon Bender, executive administrative support specialist at the Air Force Services Center.
Bender and his teammates provide direct support to the AFSVC front office by facilitating the preparation and execution of internal and external meetings, and developing, planning, coordinating or executing various high-level events. Additionally, they work special, high-interest projects and a broad range of matters and projects impacting AFSVC and services communities across the Department of the Air Force.
We asked the San Antonio native and Air Force retiree to tell us more about himself and the work he does at AFSVC.
What do you love about your job?
The constant action. It feels like I’m sprinting every day from the time I log on until I shut down the computer, but not so busy that I feel like I’m drowning.
When it comes to your job, what keeps you motivated?
The people I work with. Each one of them is amazing, nice and funny. It’s a true joy coming to work.
Why are you and your team important to the Air Force and Space Force enterprise and your customers?
We keep the taskers flowing for the services center, ultimately delivering support to the DAF enterprise.
Describe a project or event you and your team worked on recently that gave you a great sense of accomplishment:
Every commander’s call involves a lot of moving parts that we bring together to run a nice, smooth event. When all of the pieces fit together, like the script, venue, decorations, slides and recurring briefings, it’s a great feeling ... when it’s all done.
How does what you do support AFIMSC’s strategic priorities?
Services is all about strengthening Airmen, Guardians and families with the wide variety of programs we operate. I just help to keep the machine rolling.
