JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – Industry, academia and government agencies have a chance to connect and collaborate about installation and mission support May 25 during FORCECON 2022: Innovation – Technology – Gaming at the Tech Port Center and Arena in San Antonio.

The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center industry day is part of the week-long interactive industry and academia collider event and gaming competition that kicks off May 24. The center is working with Air Education and Training Command, AFWERX, the University of Texas at San Antonio and industry to offer panels, presentations and an expo featuring nearly 70 vendors focused on education and installation and mission support capabilities.

“We want to see what leading edge capabilities industry and academia are working on,” said Dustin Dickens, an innovation program analyst with AFIMSC Ventures. “We hope that will encourage our teams to think about how they can use and implement those concepts, ideas and solutions into operations.”

AFIMSC delivers installation and mission support to all Air Force and Space Force installations, major commands and direct reporting units. Partnership and collaboration with industry is key to the center’s success, Dickens said.

“Our goal is to quickly and efficiently increase our capability while increasing the defense industrial base,” he said.

For the FORCECON 2022 event, AFIMSC is specifically looking to collaborate on technologies in a few focus areas.

“We’ll be highlighting industry presentations for augmented, virtual and extended reality; artificial intelligence and machine learning; data transformation; operationalizing small unmanned aerial systems for installations; and robotic process automation,” Dickens said. “We want to show the unique value that industry, community and academia can bring to installation and mission support.”
