#IAMIMSC: Christoph Kehrein

Duty title and unit: Contract Specialist, 764th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany

Primary duty responsibilities: As the lead contract specialist for Turkey Spain Base Maintenance Contract, or TSBMC II, and the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa Base Operating Support Contract, I am running the day-to-day administration of the contract which provides base operating services within Turkey and Spain.

What’s the best part of your job?
The opportunity to be part of USAFE’s largest contracting program and working within a great team.

Why are you and your job important to the Air Force and AFMC?
Our team ensures that the contractor is providing the services required per the performance work statement and our office adds or removes requirements to or from the contract, if needed. Based on that, the air bases can meet their various missions and there is greater flexibility if the mission changes.

What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
I recently supported the contracting officer in awarding a bridge modification for TSBMC II which ensured continued service of highly specialized base operations support at locations in both Turkey and Spain.

Which AFIMSC priority do you most identify with – or see yourself and your job fitting into – and why?
As a contracting specialist on the USAFE-AFAFRICA base operations support contract, the AFIMSC priority I most identify with is Line of Effort 1: Increase Lethality and Readiness. I directly contribute to delivering lethality and readiness to the Air Force by ensuring the program provides the critical contractor support to operate and maintain strategic air bases within Turkey and Spain. My contributions ensure the contract provides the combatant commander the ability to better maintain near-peer competitor deterrence within the USAFE-AFAFRICA area of responsibility while also providing greater flexibility and efficiencies to both mission partners and acquisition teams.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I am glad to be part of the team. #IAMIMSC
