#IAMIMSC: Alicia Kooda

Duty title and unit: Supervisory Contract Specialist, 772nd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron, Air Force Installation Contracting Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.

Primary duty responsibilities: I work with mission partners to ensure contracts meet mission requirements and are delivered on time. We partner with small business, contractors, Air Force civilians and military members to generate contracts and work solutions based upon Air Force strategic goals and endeavors.

What’s the best part of your job?
Working with my teammates and colleagues at the 772nd ESS and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center. Everyone is focused on doing a great job, but they also support one another in their professional goals and are like an extended family. An example is the care and consideration everyone showed me when my mom passed away suddenly.

Why are you and your job important to the Air Force and AFMC?
Contracting officers serve as a focal point for the team. We are able to further the mission and increase lethality. We are uniquely positioned to support multiple stakeholders in the Air Force.

What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
Our team recently completed six single award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, firm-fixed-price contracts for base realignment and closure environmental construction optimization services. The contracts support a variety of environmental restoration services and construction.

Do you follow any mantra?
“From the first laugh to the last breath.” Enjoy life, laugh and live each day to the fullest with faith in yourself and others.

Which AFIMSC value do you identify with the most and why?
Family & Fun. My most successful times are those in which I ensured the team had the time they needed with family and enjoyed what they did as best as possible.
