#IAMIMSC: Master Sgt. Alicia Clark
Duty title and unit: Commander’s Support Staff NCO in charge, Air Force Security Forces Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas
Primary duty responsibilities: I run the AFSFC commander’s support staff by managing, tracking and overseeing the commander’s programs. This includes evaluations and decorations, promotion testing, military leave, security management, unit drug demand reduction, fitness, individual medical readiness, travel, records management and various personnel actions and updates.
What’s the best part of your job?
Being a focal point for all of our unit members. I get to meet everyone and assist in one way or another. Before Airmen arrive to their assignment with the AFSFC, throughout their time with the unit and as they are leaving, I assist in many ways from providing personnel updates to helping with concerns or other issues. If I can’t help with something, I point them in the right direction.
Why are you and your job important to the Air Force and AFMC?
Our work behind the scenes helps maintain Airmen readiness. AFSFC Airmen at every level can focus on executing the mission because they know their information and records are up to date.
What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
Revamping AFSFC’s inprocessing procedures by finding better ways of making new members feel welcome while helping them get settled. Helping someone during such a huge transition is a very big responsibility. We get to be the welcoming party well before they arrive and help make the process so much easier since they have many other things to worry about during a move!
Any claims to fame?
I am the first in my family to join the Air Force! My grandfather was in the Army and served in the Korean War.
Do you follow any mantra?
Move with a purpose: everything you do has a purpose in achieving some goal!
Which AFIMSC value do you identify with the most and why?
In my job, I identify with responsiveness. The needs of all the Airmen, my “customers,” in the unit is my number one job. If I do my job right, the other values come with it!
