#IAMIMSC: Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Rogers

Duty title and unit: Resource Management NCO in charge, AFIMSC Installation Support Directorate, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.

Primary duty responsibilities: On a daily basis, I oversee $13.5 million in appropriated funds & $15.4 million in non-appropriated funds while monitoring planning, programming, budgeting and execution for spiritual care support. I also advise Air Force, eight major commands, two direct reporting units, 77 wings and U.S. Space Force leadership on financial and human resource planning and utilization enterprise-wide.

What’s the best part of your job?
Taking care of Airmen – the Airmen in AFIMSC and my fellow religious affairs Airmen and chaplains. I love helping people.

Why are you and your job important to the Air Force and AFMC?
As a religious affairs Airman, I help build a culture of spiritual care and facilitate the free exercise of religion for all Air Force members and their families. We train in crisis prevention and intervention response. Religious affairs Airmen meet the diverse needs of the communities in which they serve by managing religious programs, administrative, financial and facility support, and can support hospitals and mortuaries. Along with a chaplain, as a religious support team, we can also embed into a specific unit to support the needs of the local commander and Airmen in that unit.

What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
Recently, my team was able to push $1.86 million allocated specifically for unfunded requirements to 86 installations as an end-of-fiscal-year closeout project. This gave me a great sense of pride that our team was able to help installations obtain items required to complete their mission.

Do you follow any mantra?
It’s not what I have to do. It’s what I get to do.

Which AFIMSC value do you identify with the most and why?
I personally identify the most with trust and transparency. I feel that at AFIMSC, by being transparent and by communicating our processes to our customers, we earn the trust of our mission partners. We are here to make their mission a success!
