JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center launched a new podcast Oct. 17 dedicated to delivering news and information directly from the center’s leaders, experts and teammates.

The podcast aims to deliver timely and relevant information to the workforce in a conversational manner, said Mike Briggs, AFIMSC chief of public affairs.

“We’re excited to offer another way for our AFIMSC team to stay up-to-date with what’s happening around the center,” he added.

The first episode of “Inside AFIMSC” features a conversation with Maj. Gen. Brad Spacy, AFIMSC commander, about the center’s priorities, strategic plan and future.

AFIMSC activated in 2015 and reached full operational capability in October 2016. Since standup, the center’s initial strategy focused on executing capabilities, transforming the organization, and innovating.

AFIMSC has always operated based on a strategy; it just wasn’t as refined, the general explained.

“Now it’s time to evolve,” Spacy said. “We need to formalize and make sure we’re not missing anything.”

The general also talked about his long-term vision for AFIMSC and shared his excitement for the center’s potential and growing role in supporting and empowering future Air Force installations which, he believes, will be built, trained and maintained more like a weapon system than a platform.

“There’s a role for every single individual and function in this center, but you have to see yourself as that,” he said. “If you don’t see yourself as … a piece of that weapon system, as an integral part of the capability we produce, then it won’t work.”
