Chief Master Sergeant Jose A. LugoSantiago is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. As the senior enlisted leader in the command, he acts as principal advisor and overseer to the commander on all matters pertaining to the enlisted force and assists the commander in establishing the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, the single intermediate-level headquarters providing installation and mission support capabilities to Air Force installations.
His duties include assisting the development and execution of the Air Force Program Action Directive. This directive consolidates common installation and mission support capabilities currently performed at 10 major commands and two direct reporting units into a single center headquarters. The directive also realigns, to the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, six installation support field operating agencies previously assigned to Headquarters Air Force.
The chief's diverse background includes service in three career fields: Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment Maintenance (Metrology and Calibration), Professional Military Education, and Air Force Basic Military Training Instructor. He has served in various continental United States and overseas assignments to include deploying in support of Operations IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM and Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa. Prior to this assignment, the chief served as command chief master sergeant for the Air Force District of Washington, headquartered at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, overseeing professional development, sustainment training and effective utilization of more than 40,000 personnel.
