Air Force works with project owners to protect health of Airmen, families amid COVID-19

With the evolving COVID-19 situation, privatized housing project owners have assured the Air Force that emergency and urgent workorders should and will continue to be addressed while routine maintenance has been temporarily suspended for many privatized projects. The Air Force Civil Engineer Center is coordinating with each project owner for specific plans on minimizing social interaction and increasing social distancing while maintenance is being performed in homes and during leasing operations.

Air Force committed to supporting benefits of Tenant Bill of Rights

Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper and the service secretaries signed the Tenant Bill of Rights Feb. 25, empowering residents with processes to receive information, assistance, advocacy and insight into the housing maintenance work order processes.

AFIMSC engineer honored with Bronze Star

Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center Commander Maj. Gen. Tom Wilcox awarded the Bronze Star to Capt. Shane Lockridge at a commander’s call Feb. 13. Lockridge serves as the chief of military construction requirements for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, a subordinate unit of AFIMSC. He received the award for his performance as director of operations and engineer advisor for Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Kandahar, Afghanistan, from March 2018 to February 2019.

APE ensures mission-ready airfields

It takes a lot of pavement to launch an Air Force -- 2.2 billion square feet -- and in 2019, a Tyndall-based team of airfield engineers set a blistering pace to ensure that pavement was able to support aircraft worldwide in flying more than 1.2 million hours.

Tyndall team provides cheer at annual holiday event

Members of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center celebrated Christmas early with students from Lucille Moore Elementary School during the annual “Spread the Joy” event Dec. 19. Led by the Emergency Management team, AFCEC members provided the children of their community a hot meal and presents to open. AFCEC has been leading this event since 2014 through its Emergency Management team. The unit was unable to host the event in 2018 in the wake of Hurricane Michael, providing an even bigger desire for the AFCEC team to deliver a memorable holiday event this year.
