Air Force takes responsibility of JBAB
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Zachary Tronnes, U.S. AF Honor Guard ceremonial guardsman, trades positions with U.S. Navy Seaman Anthony Dewitt, U.S. Navy ceremonial guardsman, to take the place of honor during the service-lead transfer ceremony at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., Oct. 1, 2020. The ceremony signified the transfer of the installation from the U.S. Navy to the U.S. Air Force. The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center played a pivotal role in the transition of JBAB from Navy to Air Force control Oct. 1 when AFIMSC’s Detachment 5 at nearby Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, orchestrated what was the Defense Department’s first-ever lead service transfer of a joint base.
