Air Force Inns around the world will experience system downtime for an upgrade to the infrastructure that houses the Lodging computer systems between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sept. 5, 2015.

Inns will still be able to check patrons in and out using traditional methods with cash or credit, though patrons should be prepared for longer processing times and adjust their schedules accordingly.

“Our Air Force lodging operations have well-established manual operating procedures,” said Curtis Hill, lodging management specialist at the Air Force Services Activity, “which will be implemented during this outage.”

First announced June 29, the outage is part of a system power upgrade at Air Force Personnel Center’s data center at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. The upgrade involves improving power systems at the data center to ensure commercial power loss to the center is handled by on-scene generators to keep those data systems available, as well as improving the overall environmental and smoke detection systems at the center.

“As more efficient use of IT assets becomes a clear and pressing priority for our organizations, the need to align the AFPC data center’s facilities and IT processes becomes greater to maintain uptime, coordinate complex integrated systems and deploy shared resources reliably,” said Master Sgt. Eric Bryan, AF lodging management specialist.

Traveling Airmen should contact their Air Force inn for more information on how this might affect any upcoming travel.

To make a reservation, travelers should visit http://www.dodlodging.net before Sept. 5. It will not be possible to make reservations during the system downtime. Please plan appropriately.
