#IAMIMSC: Tech. Sgt. Bryan Trumet

Duty title and unit: Research and Development, Concepts and Innovations Action Officer, Air Force Security Forces Center, JBSA-Lackland, Texas

Primary duty responsibilities: I review and evaluate current and future company products based on areas of interest for security forces. If needed, we push the product or service out to subject matter experts for further evaluation or testing. We participate in many vendor engagements and product testing, from new military working dog leashes to new area detection sensors systems.

What’s the best part of your job?
Seeing the new technology that different companies have to offer that can potentially benefit the Air Force and Space Force.

Why are you and your job important to the Air Force and AFMC?
I am important because of my drive and motivation. My job is important because it examines, tests and pushes new technology that can make security forces better across the entire enterprise.

What’s a recent project that gave you a great sense of accomplishment?
I recently participated in the 2021 1st quarter small business innovation research and small business technology transfer evaluations for AFIMSC. It was very eye opening to see the vast submissions from companies that are fighting for government funding for products and services that can aid the military.
Another accomplishment I’m proud of is being able to complete inmate transfers during the COVID pandemic. It was a struggle to move inmates before, but the added restrictions of COVID made transferring inmates to long-term facilities even more challenging. We were able to move 92 inmates to level II and level III facilities.

Which AFIMSC priority do you most identify with – or see yourself and your job fitting into – and why?
I see myself fitting into LOE 1: Increase Lethality and Readiness, simply because as a security forces professional, it’s in the job description. However; that is just the simple answer. The best answer is, I identify with all three of them. They are the three legs of a stool, if you take one away the others have to work that much harder to find balance and balance is everything.
